Recipe 4 Health Award
Since project initiation, introductory meetings focused on the development of a Recipe 4 Health introduction video for prospective businesses, as well as an interactive online training resource for award holders. The training covers the basics of healthy eating, healthier catering and gives businesses practical tips of how to change their offer.
A monitoring and evaluation framework to demonstrate the scheme’s impact and long-term sustainability was also developed. The framework aims to offer tools to enable stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of elements of the scheme when engaging with food businesses, and to ensure a co-ordinated approach across districts.
Cost savings project
From June to August 2024, two Recipe 4 Health businesses have been selected to take part in a focused project to identify potential cost savings through the provision of healthier food.
Two businesses in Rossendale, Crumb and Dolly's, were supported by a registered nutritionist to develop and test healthier options, and compare costs to a standard, less healthy option.
Crumb: Gold Recipe 4 Health award
Crumb focused on introducing a salad bar and trialling healthier meal deals. The introduction of the salad bar proved popular with customers - Donna promoted the salad bar a week before launch online, and has continued to advertise healthier meal deals and new salad items. Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
