Starting in the second year of the programme, work is underway to deliver social movement campaigns across 6 districts, with a focus on engaging children, young people and families in local food issues.
Campaigns in Rossendale and Pendle have drawn to a close and campaign development is currently underway with groups in Preston, Morcombe. The groups have explored themes such as food poverty, plastic pollution and school food being explored.
Campaign 'call to actions' will be fed back to the Health and Wellbeing Partnership to consider for future local policy change.
'Microplastics' by the White Horse Project, Rossendale
The White Horse Project Art Group explored the issue of micro plastics in the environment and the food system. During campaign development, they used different art forms, such as painting, sculpture and photography to explore how microplastics impact our environment and food system.
Campaign call to action: Ban single use plastics and stop pollution of our air, soil, waters and food with microplastics. As a group, we have decided to change the snacks we have at the end of the session to fruit that does not come wrapped in any packaging, for example, melon or pineapple, instead of packaged less healthy foods such as crisps and chocolate.
